Chill Harris Talks New Name, New “Stop Trippin” Remix for GRiZ
Corey Baker, the man who now produces as Chill Harris, is at peace with his decision to change his moniker. He said in a press release, “As an artist, I want to move forward in a contented direction, and I feel that the name Chill Harris better represents these goals and thoughts about the future.”
Baker said that he had wanted to launch the Chill Harris name as a side project, but ultimately decided to drop the Kill Paris name altogether after the tragic terrorist attacks of November 2015. That project was aimed at creating music that was “chill, easy going, laid back, and overall about having fun,” and that’s exactly the direction he went with his remix for GRiZ‘s tune “Stop Trippin'”. This remix rocks a slower tempo, and a funky groove to it that fully embodies the new nickname. Baker said of the remix, “I was inspired by cruise control drives through the Rocky Mountains. Sit back, light one up, and chill to this.”
Chill Harris has got it all lined up to succeed in the new year, and if this GRiZ remix is a sign of things to come, then the sky will be the limit. By the way, that remix is available to buy on Beatport.
“My music has never been about aggression … I have always felt that music binds us all together and brings positivity into people’s lives. This is truly why I feel blessed to be able to make music and be a part of the joy it brings forth … The events in France have convinced me to drop a name that could have negative connotations attached to it; thus allowing me to move into a new day, to explore new sounds, and to keep growing with my current sounds.”
