Pacha NYC Will Close Permanently in January 2016
After serving as one of the primary hotspots of New York City nightlife for 10 years, Pacha NYC will be closing its doors permanently next January.
The nightclub has not given any specific reason for their closing, but has announced a large slate of shows to fill up the venue’s final months. December will host the club’s tenth and final anniversary party, headlined by none other than Erick Morillo, Pacha NYC‘s founding resident DJ and chairman of the board. This event will take place on December 12. The nightclub will also see shows played by Puff Daddy, Carnage, Dirty South, and Markus Schulz during the month of December.
“The average nightclub lasts 18 months – we lasted 120. It’s been a wild ride that none of us will ever forget. Our final parties will celebrate the different artists, styles, and scenes that have made Pacha great.”
– Eddie Dean, Pacha New York’s president
The last New Year’s Eve party at the venue will be one for the books, as it will be a 72 hour set played by West 46th Street veteran, Jonathan Peters. No other information about that party has surfaced yet.
It appears as though there will not be one singular closing party, but rather “a series of closing parties in January 2016, featuring the who’s who of dance music, from past to present.” There’s no concrete date for the closure of the club, but it’s clear that Pacha NYC is going out with a bang.
Just how major has Pacha NYC‘s run been? The numbers don’t lie:
6 million fans gracing our dance floor for over 12,000 hours. That’s more than 1,500 shows over 500 weeks. We’ve had many marriages, quite a few divorces, and at least 522 babies conceived. Fans have burned close to 10 billion calories over ten years, while our barbacks have ran nearly 10 thousand miles (burning a million calories), carrying over 2 million bottles of alcohol (enough to fill 2 Olympic sized swimming pools!).
