Jay Hardway – Electric Elephants [Spinnin’ Records]
Jay Hardway really came into his own with his most recent release “Wake Up,” and his growth continues with the release of his next tune, “Electric Elephants”. The influence of the success of “Wake Up” has a bit of a role in the sound of the new track, but “Electric Elephants” is still unique in its own right. There is an almost cartoon-like synth layering that makes up the first couple bars of melody, before growing out of the minimal sound and into a more triumphant sound. The drop on “Electric Elephants” is one of the most unique from recent tracks, as the synth lead is a smooth but loud sound that I’ve never heard before. That lead sits perfectly on top of a dynamic bassline that allows “Electric Elephants” to be a slick, cohesive piece. Jay Hardway got plenty of plays on this one at ADE, and expect to hear it more in coming weeks.
