Sander Van Doorn & MOTi – Lost [November 6 – Spinnin’ Records]
Dutchman MOTi has been combining his sound with that of several members of dance music royalty in his career. Starting with Martin Garrix, then working multiple times with Tiësto, his next partner is none other than Sander van Doorn. Their work together is titled “Lost,” and was a featured tune in the Spinnin’ Records ADE Night Mix from a couple of weeks ago. Before that, “Lost” was premiered as an ID tune during MOTi‘s mainstage set at EDC Las Vegas in June. Sander van Doorn just collaborated with Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano for “ABC,” while MOTi‘s last release was the collaborative “Spack Jarrow” with W&W. Grab “Lost” when it drops on November 6.
The new style that MOTi has been putting on his recent tunes is actually very compatible with the trademark Sander van Doorn sound. The breakdown features an uncredited female vocalist who reminds me a lot of the voice on “Virus (How About Now)” as well as “Lion (In My Head)”. Those are all MOTi tunes, so the continued collaboration really isn’t a surprise. The vocals come to a head pretty quickly, and an unreal melody takes over the main sound. A crystal-clear synth with some power to it gets the job done before the build brings the drop closer. The drop has a powerful progressive vibe to it, combining a piano-dominated lead with a stomping bassline to create a massive hit.
