Shapov vs. M.E.G. & N.E.R.A.K. – Everybody EP [Axtone Records]

The Russian takeover of dance music has been happening for a while now. Artists who are very responsible for this incredible rise are Shapov and M.E.G. & N.E.R.A.K. The two groups of artists came together to pump out two tracks, and agreed to drop the two of them via an EP on Axtone Records. The two tracks on the EP are titled “Everybody” and “Dream About It,” and each shows a different side of the production spectrum.

“Everybody” is the title track of the EP, and was the first tune that got played out. The track is primarily focused on its groove, with a powerful bassline and a rather subtle topline. The tune is a little different than the version everyone was expecting, but is a strong track all the same.

“Dream About It” is a little bit different. It’s closer to the progressive house sound that each artist has dabbled in before, and only surfaced very recently. There is still a solid groove to the track, but with a more obvious focus on the top line. This tune really is the perfect B-side.
