JETFIRE & Mr.Black feat. Sonny Wilson – Boombox [October 5 – Musical Freedom]
Even as we move away from the summer festival season, there are still tracks that are best defined as festival smashes. The next offering from JETFIRE and Mr.Black called “Boombox” easily qualifies in that category. In their first collaboration together, the producers worked with vocalist Sonny Wilson, who is well-known for his vocal work on Showtek‘s “Booyah!” JETFIRE had a very productive summer with releases on DOORN Records and Spinnin’, while Mr.Black is making his major-label debut with this tune. If you listened closely to Blasterjaxx‘s set at Tomorrowland, you got a sneak preview of “Boombox”, and the full copy will drop October 5.
“Boombox” is packed to its capacity with energy, and that’s what makes it so undeniably catchy. As is pretty typical with every track that Sonny Wilson is on, the breakdown has a very strong reggae vibe to it. The vocals then give way to an extended buildup sequence with those typical JETFIRE synths that can get any crowd going. Wilson then rejoins the tune as the drop comes closer with some hype-up vocals. The drop then follows comes with a pretty typical big-room layout, but JETFIRE and Mr.Black did it perfectly. A thundering bassline and a memorable chord progression make “Boombox” a necessary late-summer hit.
