Faithless – Insomnia 2.0 (Avicii Remix) [Sony Music]

Some loved it, and some hated it, but no one can deny that Avicii has made quite a statement with his new remix for Faithless. Just this past weekend during his headlining set at Belgium’s Tomorrowland festival, the Swedish superstar debuted his brand-new remix known as “Insomnia 2.0”. That melody has been rehashed quite a few times, and Avicii took it in a different direction than we’re used to. Instead of his typical progressive house sound, he went with a stripped-down house vibe. That’s where things started to go wrong. The first drop feels a bit revitalized, but the rest leaves something to be desired. It almost feels as though Avicii thought this one would be big based off his name, and not his actual output. The remix itself really is not terrible, but leaves a lot to be desired when compared to the original’s status as a dance music classic.
