Florian Picasso – Origami [July 20 – Protocol Recordings]
It’s impossible to resist well-crafted progressive house, and “Origami” from Florian Picasso certainly qualifies. The Frenchman most recently appeared in collaboration with Tom Tyger back in April of this year as they released “Can’t Stop” on Mixmash Records. “Origami” was first debuted by Protocol Recordings label boss Nicky Romero during his mainstage set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and grew to be an integral part in all of his recent sets. Whether by itself or in a popular mash up with Alesso‘s “Heroes (We Could Be),” Florian Picasso has a solid tune in “Origami”. It’s set to be released through Protocol Recordings on July 20.
“Origami” certainly has its strengths, but strength per se isn’t one of them. Florian Picasso did a fantastic job crafting this track to have a powerful sound to it without being too loud or “in your face”. The melody is a rather mellow sounding pluck synth, before graduating into a full-bodied sound. The drop has got a great vibe to it as well, as it makes use of a short and sweet progressive synth on top of a grooving bassline. Is it the heaviest track? Absolutely not, but the value in “Origami” is not in the power.
Grab “Origami” when it drops via Protocol Recordings on July 20.
