Jay Hardway – Wake Up [June 26 – Spinnin’ Records]
Spinnin’ Records has been on the cutting edge of how to market new music, and one of their favorite tactics has been the use of ID teasers. That strategy allowed Martin Garrix to shoot to fame as the artist behind “Animals,” and now a similarly talented young Dutchman Jay Hardway has gotten the same treatment. His track “Wake Up” was shrouded in mystery for a bit, But a sly Facebook picture caption hinted at his involvement. It has been a fixture in the last few weeks’ episodes of Spinnin’ Sessions, but has also permeated the radio shows of other big-name DJs. Now that the artist behind the track has been revealed, the world now awaits the release of Jay Hardway‘s newest single “Wake Up” through Spinnin’ Records on June 26.
Now, at first, everyone wanted to credit this track to Martin Garrix since Jay Hardway used a similar style of chopped up vocals throughout the breakdown of “Wake Up”. Like many other songs by Hardway, there’s a strong focus on both the melody and the drop, and that shows his maturity as a producer. The way the sound builds up is incredible, as it starts from a chopped up vocal, and grows into what is my current favorite melody. That melody then gives way to an energy-packed drop that combines the melodic qualities of the melody with the pounding energy that only the Jay Hardway big-room sound can provide.
Grab “Wake Up” when it drops on June 26 through Spinnin’ Records.
