Ferdinand Weber – What [SPINNIN’ DEEP]
Weber’s “What” is as boring as its title and is also a complete waste of your time. Coming from the label that is subtly and subversively ruining deep house, “What” takes a sample, beats it to death, and then kicks it a few times while it’s on the ground to try to get it to move again. Using really generic ideas, Weber decides to create about a minute worth of music, and have it repeat around five times to create a track that really does absolutely nothing musically. The worst part is that it is produced quite well and the sound quality is great. Weber shows great production potential, and had the ability to do really nice things with this song. I like how Weber leaves space for the tone of the guitar to come through and how clean it sounds, but it just overall puts my brain to sleep. There are infinite possibilities with which you can combine sounds and ideas to create music, this one just sounds really lazy. SPINNIN’ would put out the least creative and exciting deep house there is.
