Chus & Ceballos – Iberican Cuts Vol. 1 [Stereo Productions]
Some absolutely fantastic tech house has come out on Stereo Productions this week and it’s provided by the two Spanish DJ/producers Chus & Ceballos. Both tracks have a heavy latin vibe, but are incredibly groovy and unique in their own right. Malazinga is a pumping, intense track that features beautifully articulated piano over top a standard percussion beat that has been enhanced by shakers, and various stick taps. While the vocal track overtop is a bit annoying (and explicit), the track itself chugs along combining the amazing elements that latin-influenced instruments have to groove ridiculously hard. El Loco is a bit darker and seems to have more of a late-night vibe to it. With a much deeper level of drums and an amount of space that causes there to be a lot more ambience and depth to the track, it tends to lag a bit behind the energy of the original track. The vocals are much better in this track a well and add to the ambience and late-night vibe overall. Both of these tracks have a lot of energy, sound quite unique, and are a fresh listen for those of tech house. Whether it’s the instruments or the vibe itself, these tracks are worth at least a listen so give them a shot.
