Einmusik, Dirty Doering – Lucid EP [KATERMUKKE]
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Since it’s been a while since I gave something new in the world of deep house a review, I figured the new release on KATERMUKKE by Einmusik and Dirty Doering would be a good chance to jump right back into the fray. I’m a fan of the music that the label puts out, and I enjoy the style of tech/deep house that tends to be a bit more mellow than other labels. In that sense, Lucid EP fits right into the mold with an ambient, laid-back, and yet also diverse and unique sound and melodies. I find that sometimes deep and tech house can be brought down by a lack of ideas and repetition, but Lucid EP avoids that for the most part. Lucid is dark, minimalistic, expansive, and definitely late-night focused. It is characterized by a deep bass-line, light synth additions throughout the track, and a surprising grooviness that one would not expect from the track’s feel. The breakdown is also really well done, using piano to break up the darkness and bring in a sense of melody to the track. It really gives the listener a nice break from the moodier side of dance music, and the chords themselves are also articulated well.
Sascha Cawa has a remix on this release as well and I would honestly say that it is the standout track on Lucid EP. The way the synths pump through the speakers in the beginning, in combination with light percussion, is absolutely fantastic. It foreshadows the track to come, and the tone of the synths themselves are so incredibly round and thick that they are so satisfying to listen to. The track builds and builds as the synths open up and more elements are added to the song as a whole. The synths begin to morph and change from being relatively basic, to juicy and incredibly thick. You should have this track in your library if you’re a fan of deep house.
