Halfway House – On Fire [March 9 – Banzai Records]
For a brand-new label, Henry Fong‘s Banzai Records is starting off in a huge way. They’re already onto their second release, and have brought in a dose of American firepower in the form of Halfway House. It’s pretty easy to see how Fong would love to sign “On Fire”, but we’ll talk about that later. Halfway House has been on the rise for months now, with past releases on labels like Revealed Recordings and Ultra Music. The duo is poised to make a huge impact during 2015, and will do so quite easily if they just keep making tracks like this. “On Fire” will be released on March 9.
The frequent Tommie Sunshine collaborators are all on their own this time, and do not disappoint with “On Fire”. The one word that usually describes the melody is crazy, but crazy in a good way. Hard and sharp synths highlight the sound that they use, and the progression is dynamic and energetic. No power is lost as the track transitions from melody to drop, as the combination of drum loops and a chopped vocal sample prepares the listener. A wild, high-pitched synth kicks off the drop following just as crazy of the progression as the melody, but doing so with a banging baseline as its companion. Plus, Halfway House worked in another lead synth as well to create contrast that will drive fans crazy all over the world.
“On Fire” will drop via Henry Fong‘s brand-new Banzai Records on March 9. Enjoy!
