Drvg Cvltvre – Snails The Size Of London [Nurvous Records]
Drvg Cvltvre’s “Snails The Size Of London” is an interesting form of techno and an EP most definitely worth listening to. In some ways, it is reminiscent of something Gesaffelstein would make. The tempo is slower, it feels a bit dark, but in many ways it includes more ambient noise and melody than Gesaffelstein. Each track is unique and has a different sound, but in many ways it tends to blend together. Well-done percussion is a common theme, but at the same time the slow tempo can end up making the songs drag and can take away from the energy. The production is well-done, but it would be interesting to play these tracks at higher speeds to see how they feel. Emergency Psychic Services is a really interesting piece of music and is my favorite of the release as I really enjoyed the combination of the bass and the percussion. Give this EP a listen, and see if it’s your style.
