Merk & Kremont vs. Volt & State – Black & White [January 26 – Protocol Recordings]
Protocol Recordings has got a great clash of duos for their next release. Italians Merk & Kremont and Dutchmen Volt & State both start 2015 looking to continue on huge success attained in the prior year, and get off to a solid start with their collaboration known as “Black & White”. Merk & Kremont made a huge solo splash when they dropped “Zunami” on the label back in November 2013, while Volt & State closed out 2014 with their massive track “Rush,” which served as the intro song for numerous live sets for label boss Nicky Romero. Both duos were able to make gigantic strides in terms of their productions over the past year, and look to continue that trend as the Winter Music Conference in Miami looms in the future. “Black & White” will be available on January 26.
The breakdown can be easily summarized in one word: phenomenal. All four of these producers are familiar with building a hit with a magical sounding breakdown, and “Black & White” certainly shows that talent. Each group clearly imparts their own influence, since the signature groove of Merk & Kremont finds a perfect mate with the fantastic synth work that Volt & State brings. The bassline comes in next, and provides the perfect extra dimension to the track. The buildup brings a ton of suspense for the oncoming drop, with a pitch-bend and excellently looped percussion. The drop that comes next is massive and rocks a growling top synth combined with a fat bassline to create a legendary sound.
“Black & White” from Merk & Kremont and Volt & State will be available on January 26. Enjoy!
