Majesty – Countdown EP [Mr. Nice Guy]
Majesty’s Countdown EP consists of two tracks that can be classified as tech house, techno, or some combination of those two. The namesake track, Countdown, is very much influenced by acid house. With a slower tempo, a deep bass, and sparse chords, the track leaves a lot of space for the listener to focus on the way the main synth and the bass interact. The bass mirrors the riff in a really nice way, and adds a lot more depth to the track as a whole. Doing this gives the synth a much more powerful feel, and also gives the track a range of sound that many acid house tracks can lack. Drumming is exactly what it sounds and prominently features a large amount of percussion and bass. While at some points the instruments can sound a bit overused and digital, the track is by no means bad and features well-produced synths to back up the drums to avoid any repetitiveness.
This EP is for fans of acid house, bass, and interesting takes on techno/tech house. While it lacks in certain areas, give it a listen and see if these tracks are ones you would want to add to your library.
