Jacob Plant – Ice Cream [January 27 – Dim Mak Records]
At the start of his career, Jacob Plant build his reputation off of a grimy style of electro that showed in his debut single “Shakedown”. Since then, he seems to have adapted to the current trends in dance music, and has switched his focus to future house. This showed in his remix for Calvin Harris‘s track “Blame,” and now in his newest single titled “Ice Cream”. This marks the first release in 2015 for him, and it will come through Dim Mak Records, the label owned and operated by Steve Aoki. “Ice Cream” will be released on January 27.
The overall vibe of the track is best described as seductive. The title is repeated a few times throughout the break by a female voice with a continuously looping and grooving background. The overarching house vibe definitely grabs the majority of the attention, with the vocal sample from the beginning continuing in the background. The next element to be added is the bassline, and it makes a grand entrance on the low end. The buildup still sounds like the old days for Jacob Plant since the electro influences in this section are undeniable. After a quick vocal sample, the chill drop gets going with a subtle layering of synths and the perfect dose of percussion.
Grab “Ice Cream” when it drops on January 27. Enjoy!
