Reggy Van Oers – Mavie [Green]
For those of you who are into late-night, dark-sounding, and heavy techno music, Mavie is exactly what you need. These tracks are very minimalistic and in many ways repetitive, but their true quality comes through in the way that the instruments sound. They are incredibly well produced and would sound amazing on a dance floor. The kick drum booms through your speakers, enhanced by just enough reverb to make it resonate even deeper within a big room. That being said, by themselves, they can tend to lean towards those tracks that are relatively uninteresting to listen to. Not only do these tracks need good speakers, but some might say that they need to be heard in a club only. Mavie is well-produced, but in a casual situation becomes far too repetitive to truly enjoy for too long. Loctivity is a bit more varied and has the ability to hold people’s interest for longer, but still suffers from that issue of repetitiveness that brings many dance music genres down.
Give this release a listen, and decide if it’s worth a purchase for you. Otherwise, I would say listen to this in clubs only.
