A Night Like This with Arty at Story Miami
I recently had the chance to sit down with Arty. The DJ known for his progressive trance/progressive house came back to Miami on December 19th, so I made the four hour round trip drive with my buddy to meet the Russian prodigy. This marks the sixth time I have seen Arty and it was by far my favorite time, as I finally had the chance to meet and interview my favorite DJ. While it was hard not to be nervous meeting my famous DJ, I managed to pull myself together and ask him some questions.
Dance Rebels: How did you get started with producing music? Had you been trained on a piano or anything like that prior to producing electronic music? How did you get into electronic music?
Arty: I’ve been in musical school for 7 years. It was pretty easy going from musical education to actually making music. My friend had showed me some of the applications for actually producing the music and messing around with the samples and adding it to the audio tracks.
Dance Rebels: You’ve worked with your fair share of incredibly talented artists and vocalists so far in your career, is there any artists out there that you would still love to work with?
Arty: Yeah, well Coldplay. Chris Marten has always been one of my most favorite singers and songwriters and One Republic is a great band. I recently just listened again and it’s just insane, it’s an amazing album.
Dance Rebels: You’ve had the opportunity to play at clubs and festivals all around the world, is there any place you would still really love to play?
Arty: Yeah, there are these places where you wanna get back. I definitely wanna check out South Africa like Cape Horn and places like that.
Dance Rebels: You just released “Night Like This,” what made you finally decide to release the track?
Arty: I mean we just decided to do something special for the fans before the album comes out. Because I am finishing it right now and I am like 5% from making it done. And we wanted to do something really cool for Christmas for the fans who listen to my music and show them my appreciation for supporting me for all this time.
Dance Rebels: If you could choose one DJ to collaborate with, who would it be?
Arty: That’s a good question, theres a lot of people that i would love to collaborate with. I’m a huge fan of Axwell and we’ve been working on our track for two years. It’s still not done, I’ve been working on my album. Maybe it’s gonna happen in the next couple of years, maybe not.
Dance Rebels: What do you think about how deep house has become so popular in the last year?
Arty: It’s awesome, it’s a new thing that people love. There’s a lot of really cool productions and a lot of really cool tracks that I love to play in my sets right now.
Dance Rebels: Who are your favorite DJ’s right now?
Arty: Skrillex is an amazing DJ, the way how he’s playing his sets right now. He’s my favorite DJ in terms of production and DJ skills and working with the crowd, he’s insane!
You heard it from Arty himself! Not only was I lucky enough to finally meet and interview my favorite DJ, he threw down one of the best sets I’ve ever heard, with music from numerous different genres. He has been and always will be my favorite DJ. Check out his new track that was released for free called “Night Like This”.
