3LAU & Nom de Strip feat. Estelle – The Night [January 12 – Revealed Recordings]
From the sounds of this track, it seems like authentic electro house is on the rebound. We can thank American mashup extraordinaire turned producer 3LAU and Scottish production veteran Nom de Strip for this refreshing new take on a classic vocal. “The Night” samples the tune “Rhythm of the Night,” originally released by Corona, and features British songstress Estelle on the top line. 3LAU is still riding the success of “We Came to Bang” with Luciana, while Nom de Strip has just put out a string of killer remixes to names like Chris Lake and deadmau5. “The Night,” their inaugural collaboration, will be released through Revealed Recordings on January 12.
We begin in the breakdown, which is clearly centered around the vocal from Estelle. While the vocal is the focal point, the synths in the background are sharp and capable of grabbing the listeners attention from across the room. As Estelle hits the chorus, 3LAU and Nom de Strip begin to bring a bit of a melody into the foreground of the track to increase the overall groove. The buildup features a rotated loop of the chorus, and one last repetition of the title of the track brings on the drop. This one is pure madness, with 3LAU and Nom de Strip combining a growling bassline with a very bouncy top synth that will make “The Night” an integral part of every DJ set in early 2015.
Grab “The Night” when it drops through Revealed Recordings on January 12. Enjoy!
