Martin Garrix & MOTi – Virus (How About Now) [Spinnin’ Records]
The Spinnin’ Records studio must be gigantic, especially since they have to fit the massive sound of both Martin Garrix and MOTi into the same room. This collaboration has been in the works for a long time, and masqueraded under various working titles. It’s earliest recorded play came in June 2014 as the Bassjackers dropped it at EDC Las Vegas. The track is called “Virus (How About Now),” and is a tune with plenty of power over any sound system. Unlike most tracks from either artist, the melody starts off quite softly, and never really reaches that “in-your-face” loudness that a lot of big room tracks are plagued with nowadays. But the whole track isn’t soft, since they saved the loudest from the melody and dedicated it solely to the drop. Similar chord progressions but louder synths allow for a smooth continuity throughout “Virus (How About Now),” and put the track in a spot where it will be able to thrive as ADE and the fall clubbing season begin to hit their full swing. It’s also worth noting that there are vocals over the second break, which come from an uncredited female vocalist. Grab the latest high-octane banger from Martin Garrix and MOTi now through Beatport, and be sure to turn it up extra loud!
