Sam Paganini – Satellite [Drumcode]
A large collection of electronica/techno/deep house has been dropped on Drumcode by italian producer Sam Paganini. Featuring 12 tracks in total, Paganini shows off his producing ability with groovy techno tracks that combine new-age sounds and instruments with a very classic techno vibe.
Another Chance is spacey, and laden with reverb. The drum beat drives the track onwards and the synth/bass combination is interestingly articulated and very unique. The track has a lot of energy, yet like a lot of techno can be weighed down by repetition. Down’s massive drop will keep any dance floor on the edge and when it finally hits, the drum beat is incredibly satisfying, combining with the bass to give the track a nice vibe. Dusty also does a nice job with the bass/drum combination and the thundering combination of the two underneath does really well with large subwoofers.
The issue with this album is not that it is bad techno, it’s just that after the 5th track techno gets a bit tiring. There are a lot of gems in here for people who like all different kinds of house, but you have to be willing to take the time to sift through the things you don’t like. Great release, give it a listen.
