Quintino & Kenneth G – Blowfish [August 25 – Fly Eye Records]
As the summer slows down, the dance music world is showing no signs of slowing down with it. One of the more particularly aggressive labels is that of Scottish DJ/producer, Calvin Harris. He has been running Fly Eye Records for a while now, and the label has now announced what will be the 128th release to come through the imprint. After bringing in names like Sandro Silva and the Mightyfools, Mr. Harris has brought in two titans in the industry of big room in the form of Quintino and Kenneth G to create “Blowfish”. Each has been riding a summer full of high-profile collaborations, with Quintino working once again with MOTi, and Kenneth G linking up with both the Bassjackers and FTampa. “Blowfish” marks the first collaboration between these two Dutchmen, and also serves as their debut on Fly Eye Records. This tune will be available for purchase on August 25.
“Blowfish” primes itself for success by starting off with a very catchy melody. The synth choice made for this melody is not exactly the most unique, but certainly handles the task of making something sound good for the listeners. Quintino and Kenneth G are able to add liveliness to the sound of the melody through their impeccable layering of their synths and the use of a few subtle nuances throughout. As the melody progresses, percussion and a bassline are added into the mix. The buildup is pretty sweet since it actually serves as a little sneak preview for what the drop has in store. There is a quick vocal sample, and soon more big room madness from Quintino and Kenneth G is blasting through the speakers.
Early support for “Blowfish” comes from Firebeatz, R3hab and Bassjackers, so be sure to grab it on August 25. Enjoy!
