TJR & VINAI – Bounce Generation (SCNDL & Uberjak’d Remixes) [August 25 – Spinnin’ Records]
Let’s be real here: just about every big name DJ dropped the original mix of “Bounce Generation” at some point during this year’s festival season. This must’ve left TJR & VINAI ecstatic, as well as the guys in the management department at Spinnin’ Records. But, what’s the part that nobody has really wanted to embrace? The originality of the track. A lot of the recent songs that have been popular in the electro genre have abandoned the standard big room formula in favor of the Melbourne bounce style. This has yielded plenty of hits for VINAI, but has also called into question their creativity. The synth pattern sounds just about identical in every track, and they use the SAME sub bass as well. So, in order to remedy these wrongs, Spinnin’ Records brought in two Melbourne bounce experts to really make “Bounce Generation” the bounciest track it can be. The first remix comes in from SCNDL, and the second from Uberjak’d. Collectively, these two Australians will release their remixes together on August 25.
SCNDL‘s remix is easily top-notch, and that is noticeable right from the get-go. They give the track a melodic quality that the original mix lacked badly while still maintaining the trademark energy level and vocal samples that made the original a festival must-play. Their drop utilizes a little bit of the original drop as well, highlighting their prowess for inserting their own sound while still staying true to what the original track is about. It is also interesting to note that SCNDL kept the unique sections that were clearly influenced separately by both TJR and VINAI.
Uberjak’d keeps the bounce going on his remix by maintaining the signature bassline and combining that with flawless use of the chopped up vocal samples. His remix takes very few hallmarks from the original mix, but that gives Uberjak’d a better ability to showcase what it actually sounds like to make it bounce. He is also able to give the track a desperately needed melody with out taking away any of the original’s power.
Both remixes are set to drop through Spinnin’ Records on August 25. Enjoy!
