Format:B – Gospel (Pleasurekraft & Jaceo Psalm 69 Remix) [Formatik]
While Gospel may have been released a good while ago, a remix featuring Pleasurekraft has just been dropped on Formatik. Those who are familiar with Format:B are aware of their style of minimal house and Gospel was one of the best songs of the year when it came out. This remix takes that original and gives it a tech house spin as well as a frenetic vibe that can be a bit unnerving at points. The problem with this track is that it almost has too much going on. I was having a hard time processing the individual elements of the song, and it felt like there were too many tracks mixed way too far up for the release to be at all reasonable. Not only that, but the use of dissonant elements within the track make it sounds a bit annoying and I wouldn’t necessarily like to hear something like this in a club. It wavers from too loud, to too out of key, all far too much. In the end, give this track a skip but check out the original version of Gospel or my particular favorite remix: Super Flu’s Antichrist Remix.
