Mark Sixma – Shadow (W&W Edit) [Mainstage Music]
Regardless of genre, W&W has become a household name in dance music. They started as a carefully guided protégé duo of Armin van Buuren, and produced the anthem for ASOT 550 with “Invasion”. Since then, they have just about completely reformed their sound to big room, working with names like Ummet Ozcan, Blasterjaxx, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Fans have come out on both sides of the debate, some begging W&W to return to trance, and others hailing their newest works. The duo has welcomed Breda trance producer, Mark Sixma back to the label where he released “Requiem” back in April 2013. Willem and Wardt decided to take on the track “Shadow,” and provide their own edit of the track. The result that came from the studio is actually a gigantic fusion of the two styles that made W&W famous to begin with. The kick is recycled from a few recent big room tracks, but the synth signature follows the trademark trance style of Mark Sixma. As a listener, try not to get lost in the potential big room monotony, but rather enjoy the sound of the fused styles.
