DubVision – Backlash (Martin Garrix Edit) [July 7 – Spinnin’ Records]
It seems like Martin Garrix has the magic touch when it comes to editing tracks for Spinnin’ Records. He did an edit for the Bassjackers song “Crackin,” and now lends his services to another Dutch duo, DubVision. The track that the 18-year-old lent his support to is called “Backlash,” and had been floating around the Internet under various working titles for a few weeks now. It first surfaced during Ultra Music Festival back in March during Martin Garrix‘s mainstage set on Saturday. His edit has now been picked up by the biggest dance music label in the world, and is set to be released on July 7.
Often when you see the name Martin Garrix, you automatically think of the big room sound he employed on “Animals” and his “Project T” remix. But the young phenom shows off his melodic side in this edit of “Backlash,” staying true to the typical properties of DubVision. This track has a summer anthem feel to it right from the start, and that can be attributed to both artists involved (since each has created one in the past). The complexity of the chords slowly grows as the melodic section progresses, and soon a 30 second buildup process gets going. The Martin Garrix edit of “Backlash” is just pure and simple progressive house, and that melodic section I referred to earlier never ends. The trademark dynamic bassline from Garrix meshes perfectly with the synth and FX work that the Dutch duo of DubVision put into place. Simply put: “Backlash” is a masterpiece from both DubVision and Martin Garrix, and is bound to see countless numbers of plays, and infinite support.
Support has poured in from Michael Brun, Thomas Gold, Nicky Romero, Tiësto, Hardwell and many others. Mark July 7 down on your calendar, and enjoy the preview!
