Shanahan & Ale Q – SLAM [Dance Rebels Exclusive]
Ladies and gentlemen: buckle up because it’s time for another Dance Rebels Exclusive! The man behind a sweet and perfectly mixed episode of our Sinners Radio series, Shanahan, has gotten back into the studio with Guatemalan fellow producer and friend Ale Q for “SLAM”. Most fans should still remember their last collaboration, titled “Everytime,” which was an absolutely surreal and beautiful progressive house tune. They have taken “SLAM” in a completely different direction this time around, ditching vocals and intricate melodies for the brute force and raw party energy that big-room tracks provide. The melodies have a slight tinge of brass instruments mixed in with a riser that certainly cranks the energy up to a new level at an early position in the track. “SLAM” also features one of the most unique buildups in any dance music track released so far in 2014. No overused snare rolls, and no irritatingly looped vocal sample to be found here. The hype just builds itself through well-used pitch bends, and other elements. After quick vocal shot, the drop gets takes over. The brass comes back as part of the lead, combined now with a grooving percussive rhythm, and perfectly tuned accompanying synths. It’s no surprise that Shanahan and Ale Q killed this track, especially since their experience with working together made this collaboration an absolute no-brainer.
