Bingo Players – Knock You Out (Hardwell Remix) [June 2 – Hysteria Records]
One of the saddest days in recent memory for any dance music fan was December 17, 2013. That day marked the loss of ½ of dance music’s most dynamic group, the Bingo Players. Paul Bäumer lost his battle to cancer, but wished that his partner, Maarten Hoogstraten, would continue the Bingo Players project on after his death, and he has done just that. Their last release was called “Knock You Out,” and was a project started back when Paul was alive. The single peaked as high as #8 in the Beatport Top 100, and is gunning for more success with a huge remix. One of the Netherlands’ biggest icons, Hardwell, has taken on “Knock You Out” as an official remix. It received its first full play on Hardwell On Air 168, and is scheduled to drop on Hysteria Records on June 2.
Recently, fans have been worried that Hardwell’s sound has been turning too generic. His last two remixes have been huge successes (“Alive” for Krewella and “Ping Pong” for Armin van Buuren), but they have largely followed the same big-room formula. He has now come through to put the naysayers to shame and to honor his friend, Paul, and has taken “Knock You Out” in a blissful progressive house direction. Vocals from the original are back once again, this time over a mesmerizing melody. Once this has completed, a trance-like synth section gets underway. This section leads straight into the 30 second buildup sequence, and next, into a beautiful progressive drop.
The Hardwell remix of “Knock You Out” drops on June 2. Enjoy!
