Don Diablo – Knight Time [May 19 – SPRS]
In the past few months, Dutch DJ/producer Don Diablo has cemented himself as a star in the dance music industry. It all started with “Starlight (Could You Be Mine),” the progressive house hit that propelled his name from mostly unknown to well-respected throughout the industry. Now, he has been mainly focused on releasing tracks through Spinnin’ Records, and a few of his successes include “Origins” and “Black Mask”. Now, he moves his talents to the special SPRS sublabel as he showcases his electro house abilities on “Knight Time”. Already, R3hab, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Nicky Romero have shown this track support, and the full version is set to be released on May 19.
The mysterious, dark sounds that have found their way into just about every Don Diablo production are audible right from the start. As well, the first lead actually sounds more like traditional house, which marks a bit of a departure from his normal style. A few distorted vocals are in the mix as well, but that requires a bit of closer listening to the melody. After a relatively low-key build, the Don Diablo drop takes a different sound. The rhythm of the drop is slightly irregular, but that makes “Knight Time” one of the most unique songs so far in 2014. Combine a little bit of Tujamo with a lot of Don Diablo, and the result is “Knight Time”.
Grab “Knight Time” when it drops on SPRS May 19. Until then, enjoy the teaser!
