MANIK – Because of You [Black Butter Records]
Because of You is a bass-heavy release by the New York City based MANIK. In a style similar to UK Garage of old, MANIK’s namesake track is top notch and will get any dance floor moving. However, from there things take quite a different turn with the hypnotic Wanna Feel. Using retro synths and a very electronic drum kit, he crafts an almost trap-like ambient house that is definitely a left turn from the rest of the release, but well-done nonetheless. Boardcut floats back into the groove with another bass-heavy track that wobbles everywhere underneath a very tightly produced drum kit. Check this EP out.
