BREAKING: Security Guard Critically Injured, 22 Arrested at Ultra Music Festival
The demand for tickets to Ultra Music Festival is higher now in its 16th year, but it went over the top during Day 1. At around 8:00 PM on the festival’s first night, a private security guard by the name of Erica Mack was trampled by people who were attempting to overrun the festival’s fences and enter without paying for a ticket. The 28-year-old works for the Contemporary Services Corporation, and has reportedly suffered severe brain hemorrhaging, as well as a broken leg. From the last report, she was in “critical, but stable condition”. She was posted in a section that the Miami police department had inspected earlier in the day, and “called for additional fencing at the spot where the guard was later injured” according to the Miami Herald. This incident lead Miami’s mayor, Tomas Regelado, to threaten Ultra’s future in Miami by saying, “I think we should not have Ultra next year here.”
On the first day of the festival alone, 22 people were arrested, with 15 felonies, 6 misdemeanors, and 1 traffic violation. Over both weekends of last year’s gigantic 6 day festival, the Miami police arrested 167 people, mainly on drug charges and for attempting to enter the festival with no ticket.
Just making sure to cover everything!
Yeah cause you know a traffic violation really deserves to be put into the list.
