Butch – The Persistence of Memory EP [Visionquest]
The Persistence of Memory is an interesting EP that I would say isn’t necessarily aimed at dance floors. Butch and his collaborators use space-age synths and unique instrumental stylings to create a tech/electronica EP that sounds fresh and is produced very well. Each track is spacious and sounds absolutely massive through sets of speakers, and focuses heavily on synth pads and chord progressions. It almost sounds like the tracks were produced for large arenas as heavy reverb is quite common. Ozymandias has an absolutely wonderful bass-line that will rip through your subwoofer and the tone used on the percussion is an interesting juxtaposition between the other instruments in the track. While these tracks may not necessarily be dance-able, they are an interesting foray into a different side of electronic music and worth a listen. Check them out.
