Rolling Stone Announces Their List Of The 50 Most Powerful People In EDM
Rolling Stone has been publishing a list of the 50 most powerful people in the EDM scene for a while now and we were very excited to get our hands on the latest list. While something of this nature is always going to generate a lot of controversy we really like most of the people and companies that made the list this year. It’s no surprise that James Barton grabbed the number one spot as he happens to be the EDM chief at Live Nation Entertainment, easily one of the most powerful companies in music, but we were pretty surprised that SFX Entertainment’s Robert Sillerman was behind Insomniac Events’ Pasquale Rotella considering the seemingly endless acquisitions SFX has made. Another surprise was the inclusion of A-Trak over trend setters like Zedd, David Guetta, and Calvin Harris who have been changing the sound of the genre and helping to make electronic music more mainstream. I bet you wouldn’t be surprised to hear tracks like “Stay The Night”, “Titanium”, and “Feel So Close” on the radio, but I can guarantee you probably haven’t heard an A-Trak song on the radio.
Take a look through the list and let us know what you think. Any snubs? People you think shouldn’t be on the list?
