The Newest Mutants: 10 Questions With the Lunde Bros
Success in the dance music industry rarely comes easily, but there are always the artists who are willing to work hard in order to create success. An example of that is easily visible with the Lunde Bros. The Stockholm-based duo, consisting of brothers Christopher and Niklas Lunde, have been quietly making a name for themselves by crafting tracks that have caught the ears of labels like Flamingo Recordings, Be Yourself Music, and Mutants. In fact, Mutants boss John Dählback tabbed his fellow countrymen to put together a 15-track compilation that will be released on March 24. We were able to get 10 questions with the duo, where we discussed summer plans, influences, and favorite tracks on the compilation. Enjoy!
1. What artist or song first got you two familiarized with dance music?
“Pryda-Rymd” was one of the first tracks that really got us inspired. Love the vibe in it!
2.What is it like to produce and DJ not just as a duo, but as brothers?
It feels great! You always feel comfortable in the studio and during shows.
3. How has your home city of Stockholm influenced your music?
It is so cold and dark most of the time during the year so we get more time in the studio thanks to the weather of Stockholm.
4. How did you first come into contact with John Dählback, and how did your compilation come together?
One of our first nights out in Stockholm was to see John play. From that night he has been a huge inspiration to us. One day we had made a track, called “Saga,” that was sent to him. He really liked it and we released it later on Mutants. Since that day we have become good friends.
5.What was the thought process behind your track selection for the compilation?
We wanted to make a special and different twist of the compilation that matches our taste. There are a lot of great producers out there and we wanted to feel some kind of connection with the sound in every track. In that way all the tracks came into place.
6.Do you think that dance music is moving in the right direction, and what will be the next “big thing” in the industry?
For sure! Dance music now is bigger than ever and the sound is great. Unfortunately a lot of producers has the same sound so hopefully the scene will keep developing with the same speed as now. We think the next big thing is to “take things back” a bit.
7. “Slapper” was supported by Jordy Dazz, Quintino, Swanky Tunes, and more. How does it feel as an artist to receive such strong support on a new release?
It feels awesome.
8. What has been your favorite moment as either a DJ or producer?
Every time you see the crowd go nuts after playing your own tracks is a favorite moment.
9. What clubs and festivals are you guys looking forward to playing this summer?
We have like every summer a lot of gigs in Europe and its hard to pick a special one. This summer will be great!
10. What tracks will we hear from you in the near future?
We have a bunch of tracks coming out soon but unfortunately we can’t tell you more now.
Well, you’ve heard straight from the duo now! Check out the compilation below, and enjoy!
