KSHMR – Megalodon [February 24 – Spinnin’ Records]
EDIT: There are NOW confirmed reports that the artist responsible is called KSHMR. Release will come on February 24.
Previously written: Wow… that ID guy has been putting out a lot of bangers recently! Okay, fine: that joke was terrible, but you know I had to tell it. Spinnin’ Records, known for pioneering the ID teaser system with Martin Garrix‘s “Animals,” has come through with yet another big track with no artist. The track is known as “Megalodon,” and has already received support from an A-list of DJ’s, including Hardwell, David Guetta, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.
Of course, the speculation as to the identity of the real artist is already underway. You can hear some signature styles in both the break and the drop, but I don’t want to tell you my ideas just yet. The melody has an orchestral sound similar to that of “Tsunami” and “Stampede,” and a buildup that might have just been copied from the “Stampede” project file. Another trademark passes by: the loud vocal sample right before the drop, and we find our ears full of big-room. The drop sounds like a fusion of “Tsunami’ and “Atom”. If you can find the musical value, you’re doing better than me.
As you can tell from my description above, I have a feeling this track has come from DVBBS and Borgeous. “Megalodon” sounds all too similar to the two existing productions from these guys, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they made one more tune using the same presets. We will be sure to update this post with new information as it comes into us. But until then, enjoy the teaser for “Megalodon”.
if you try to shazam the result is KSHMR – Megalodon!!
