Essential Mix Recap – R3hab
Just three days ago, Dutch house icon R3hab took to the decks on BBC Radio 1 to play his two hour Essential Mix. He played a total of 38 different tracks, and mixed each to perfection over the 120 minutes that he was on the decks. He focused mainly on electro house, as he just pumped out banger after banger. It’s also interesting to note that basically every song he played featured his name in the artist section. If you can fill a two hour mix with entirely your own music, you’ve got a pretty impressive discography. Some interesting choices include the latest ID from Spinnin’ Records (Megalodon), a potential new collaboration with Deorro, an unreleased remix for Gareth Emery and Krewella, and a bunch more. Looking at the mix from afar, R3hab accomplished exactly what was expected of him. He played two hours of his own hits, which continues a trend that he almost always follows. It’s slightly disappointing to hear so little variety in the song selections, and also to see such an egocentric vibe in his tracklist.
