Midland – Trace/For (Yacht) Club Use Only’ Remixes [Aus Music]
This new release from Aus comes with two remixes of Midland tracks. One by Grain, and the other by Leon Vynehall. Both tracks are solid deep house and use your speakers to great effect, but are definitely a trip on the wild side for standard deep house.
Grain’s remix of Trace is frenetic and busy. Sampling, percussion, brass, and many other instruments, the layers are very heavy and add a lot of energy into the track. The synths during the break are absolutely top notch and I really like how they slowly build using tone, volume, and the use of percussion. The vocal samples are added back in, and the track drops back into the fray almost without warning. Vynehall’s remix is also rather wild using off-beat percussion from unique instruments, and layerings synths overtop to create a unique feel to the track. Standout of this remix is Vynehall’s use of percussion which is creative and very well done. Check this EP out.
