The Chainsmokers – #Selfie [Dim Mak Records]

It’s been a long time since The Chainsmokers have released an original on a record, if you think back it was about a year ago when they released their first song “The Rookie”. Things have changed quite a bit since then and they’ve taken a song that started out as sort of a joke and turned it into a dance floor killer that made Steve Aoki want to sign it to his very own label Dim Mak Records. The song is totally Melbourne Bounce which isn’t something we’re used to hearing from The Chainsmokers, but it’s perfect for the songs and the vocals laid down by their friend Alexis Killacam. While some fans who love The Chainsmokers for their more emotionally charged indie house remixes may find this tune lacking some soul, you’ve got to take it for what it is. “#Selfie” has a great drop and hilarious vocals that everyone can relate to, Alex and Drew aren’t trying to change the world with this one, they just wanted to make a great dance track and in that they succeeded.
