Hail To The King: Our Interview With Bass King
Bass King has done remixes for some of the biggest DJ’s and Producers in the world, as well as some banging originals. He’s had support from the likes of Hardwell, Tiesto, and David Guetta. The Russian producer sat down with us for an interview regarding collaborations, remixes, and more. Check out what he had to say below and enjoy!
Who or what can you cite as your main inspiration in deciding to produce dance music?
Certainly, Tiesto! 7 years ago I saw his “Just Be” video and was so amazed as it was my first EDM experience. Basically, his album “Just Be” inspired me a lot!
You’ve released a lot with X-Vertigo. What is like to work with him so often?
He is nice guy! He has tons of great ideas, and that’s why it’s really cool to work with him!
If you could collaborate with any artists, regardless of genre, who would it be?
Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, and The Killers!
How were you approached to make a remix for Nervo & Ivan Gough’s “Not Taking This No More?”
In April 2013 we did a remix for Nervo‘s track called “Army”, which was supported by Tiesto, David Guetta, and Sidney Samson. It seems that the girls liked it and in September they contacted us again. We were really excited to work on the new remix for them.
Do you have any new music you’re currently working on that you can tell us about?
I have finished 6 new tracks, so I just got to sign them! All the tracks are different! Even though 2 of those exclusive tracks are in my guest mix for you guys!
Do you ever feel a loss of creativity? If so, is there anything special you do to get the creative process moving again?
Yeah, sometimes. I just need a cup of coffee and nice cheesecake, maybe a chocolate muffin to gain some nice ideas for production!
What is your opinion on “Ghost producing?”
I certainly think that it’s not that bad. I mean, it’s really not easy to reach a high level of production skills and get signed. There are some may artists out there that have tons of great ideas, but they can’t bring it into production, simply because of their skills. Ghost producers help them out on that one.
What has been your favorite venue to play?
Last year I played in Amsterdam, club Sand. It was dope!
Who do you think is the most underrated producer that we should look out for in 2014?
Duher! This guy is really underrated! I mean, his music is just wow, but unfortunately most of the labels don’t find it interesting enough and the community doesn’t get a chance to hear him.
What can we expect from you during the rest of 2014?
You can expect tons of new tracks and remixes! BIG collaborations as well!
Bass King was kind enough to provide a guest mix to accompany the interview. Take a listen to that below!
