From Russia With Love: Our Interview With Amersy
Fresh off of his release with Merk & Kremont, Amersy is on a roll, with no signs of slowing down. The young producer won Nicky Romero’s “Symphonica” remix contest and had a few huge releases in 2013. We got to sit down with him and talk about inspiration, the talent coming out of Russia, and plans for the future. Check out what Amersy said below and enjoy!
Who or what inspired you to make dance music?
I think it all started when I came across Swedish House Mafia’s track called “One.” I was like – wow! How do they come up with such sound?
How do you feel as talent coming out of Russia after guys like Hard Rock Sofa, Swanky Tunes and Arty?
It’s awesome that there are a few big names in the industry from your own country, but also I feel that I have to work even harder to get to that level as them.
You just released you song, “Charger,” together with Merk & Kremont. What was making that song like?
We got in touch on Twitter and decided to put together two imprints from our tracks. It was my remix for “Symphonica” and their own “Zunami.” That’s how “Charger” was born.
If you could collaborate with any producer regardless of genre who would it be and why?
There are a lot of producers who have their own amazing style. I really want to work with Arno Cost if I get a chance. He is such a great talent! In addition to this, I wish there will be an opportunity to work with Hard Rock Sofa, Swanky Tunes, and another newcomer – Arston. In my opinion they always make new and fresh music that sounds very different.
You’re a young producer at only 17. What was it like balancing producing with schooling and family?
You know it is pretty hard to combine school and producing. I have only one free day – Sunday, when there is no school. However, I try to spend this day with my family. As a result I usually start work after midnight, I guess what’s why I’m not getting enough sleep.
Do you have any tracks that you’re currently working on that you can tell us about?
Let’s say it’s a secret weapon, which you can’t tell anybody about just yet. But, one of those is a remix for Hard Rock Sofa & Skidka‘s “Let Me Hear You Scream.”
Do you ever have instances where you lose creativity? If so, is there anything special you do to get the creative process flowing again?
It is all about inspiration. I always try to find it in everything. I’ve recently have lost my creativity, but then thanks to the movie “I Am Hardwell” I got the creative process back flowing again.
What is your opinion on the “ghost producing” epidemic?
I think it’s a good way to save your time if you’re on a tour, or in general. It’s very suitable thing for producers who don’t have enough time to make music.
Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
I see myself on a big stage, near the biggest name of the EDM scene.
Where can we expect to see you this year?
Everywhere!
We had lot’s of fun talking to such a young and talented producer. He was also kind enough to do a guest mix for us! Check out his mix below and enjoy!
