Mike Hawkins & Toby Green – Storm [January 15 – Megaton Records]

Megaton Records has the future under control. Their label boss, Mike Hawkins, had the good fortune of discovering Toby Green, an incredibly promising young artist from Denmark. They have worked together before, and now come together for “Storm”. These two went for a more mellow feel, and do so with great success. If I am interpreting the SoundCloud description correctly, this track will be released as a free download to thank fans for all of their support in 2013.

Like one commenter mentioned on the teaser, “this melody could easily pass as trance”. That is exactly how complex and mysterious the melody feels. An eerie sounding vocal sample accompanies this great melody, and helps to create the atmosphere of the song. An acid feel makes its way into the sound as the buildup gets underway. The drop that follows is a beautiful fusion of tech house influences mixed with whats really great about acid house. It’s got a great sound, and is definitely worth a listen.
