Junior Sanchez – Without You feat. CeCe Peniston [Size Records]
Junior Sanchez has released a new electro track on Size that is a departure from his normal sound in many ways, but also manages to be less imaginative and more repetitive that his previous releases.
Without You is loud, and triplet heavy focusing more on percussion than the use of synths. While the drums used are rhythmically interesting and well mixed, they tend to become a bit much as the track goes on. The way the tom’s waveform bends to create an interesting tribal sound is well done and gives the track a bit more flavor. The vocals on the other hand are uninspired and don’t really add much to the song either. CeCe’s voice has a filter on it that rather than creating a unique sound, makes her sound kind of like she was recorded on a MacBook Pro microphone. The almost 90s style synths in the breakdown are a choice that I found really fun and unique. For a quick burst of drums and a different sound in your set, give this track a spin. Otherwise, take a listen and judge it out for yourself.
