Shall Ocin – Conception EP [Culprit]
“Conception EP”, a release consisting of three original Ocin tracks and one remix by Edu Imbernon, is a creative and uniquely psychedelic journey through house music of the tech and deep variety.
The EP starts out with “Forgive Me”, an original produced by the Argentinian Ocin and possibly the best track of the release. The combination of affected vocals, with crunchy synths, and grimy bass make for a surprisingly groovy track that still carries a lot of energy and force to it. I especially enjoyed how the track’s intensity goes up and down dramatically within 8 bars. Next, Edu Imbernon remixes “Forgive Me” using similar synths although keeping the intensity at a steady level with futuristic synths, and a driving drum beat. The synths in the third track, “Conception”, are absolutely top notch. The waveform interacts very interestingly with the bass underneath and I really enjoyed the chords in the background that loosen up the sharp attack of the main instruments. “Conception” could also be voted my favorite track of this release and is incredibly well done. Finally, “Have To Say” rounds out the EP with a lighter, more disco-oriented vibe. I liked how Ocin combined a classic sound with some futuristic synths to create a progressive and interesting take on a very well-used style. Check this EP out.
