Röyksopp feat. Susanne Sundfør – Running to the Sea (Remixes) [Dog Triumph]
Norwegian duo Röyksopp’s new track “Running to the Sea” seems to be a hot track to remix these days. This release is a collection of remixes by 7 different artists, over a good 4 different genres. The remixers on this release are as follows:
Pachanga Boys – a softer track that focuses heavily on ambience and a thumping bass-line, very relaxed and has a lower energy
Villa – a deep track, emphasizing the vocals more. It incorporates reverb-laden piano and a thumping bass-line to great effect. A must-listen in this release
Late Nite Tuff Guy – another deep track, but it leans a bit on the tech side. It grooves ridiculously hard and it’s futuristic synths blend incredibly well with the bass-line. Also a must-listen
Man Without Country – an electronica track, focusing heavily on the vocals but is more ambient like Pachanga Boys’ remix, an interesting take on the original
DJ HMC – a darker electronica, the very intersting beat drives it a bit more than the others adding a lot more energy than the prior electronica tracks, which lacked a bit. Another vocal-heavy version, and a good listen
Magnus & Timon – big room progressive, that’s super unoriginal. The synth melodic lines have an interesting tone, but otherwise another generic progressive release
Seven Lions – massive, melodic dubstep. Has a few very interesting elements to it, especially some rhythmic elements during the verses
Each sound is very unique and the variation in styles allows for those who are a big fan of Röyksopp to get more of a great track, with fresh new sounds. Check it out.
