Ivan Gough, Walden & Jebu feat. Penelope Austin – Home [December 9 – Big Beat Records]
Big Beat Records has welcomed an Australian dream team to the label for their next release. Three producers from down under, Ivan Gough, Walden, and Jebu, are joined by fellow Australian vocalist, Penelope Austin, on “Home”. This marks the second time that Ivan Gough has worked with Jebu, but the first in which Walden has worked together with either artist. “Home” received its first radioplay last month on Pete Tong‘s Essential Selection show as part of the open of the October 11 show. By the way, Dance Rebels had an interview with Walden, where we discussed everything from drugs in the dance music scene, to his dream collaboration, to what’s next in 2014.
The first thing that hits you upon clicking play on the preview has to be Penelope Austin‘s amazing vocals. They begin over a series of pianos and other synths. Her vocals finish, and immediately we get into a mesmerizing melody from the trio of Australian producers. The melody continues for 30 seconds, and then we start building towards a drop. That very same melody from before gets added to a powerful and uplifting bassline, which comprises the drop of “Home”. Interlaced with these sounds is the echo of the vocals, which completes the overall vibe of the drop.
This track is just one of many examples of how dance music is a worldwide trend. The fact that three producers and a vocalist from Australia came together to work on a musical genre that originated in the underground of Europe would’ve been mind-boggling to anyone in the industry a few years ago. However, with the Internet, anything is now possible in music. “Home” will be released to the public on December 9, so enjoy this preview until then!
