Markus Schulz – Remember This [November 11 – Mainstage Music]
There is little I can tell you about Markus Schulz that you don’t already know. The trance mainstay place at #21 in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, and just dropped his Buenos Aires ’13 compilation filled with his recent trance favorites. He now takes his talents to MainStage Music, a label owned and operated by Dutch trance/house duo, W&W. The track is titled “Remember This,” and marks Markus’ first single since “Tempted,” which featured vocalist Sarah Howells and was released during July 2013 on Armada Music. This track first appeared during Schulz’s set at EDC Las Vegas, and received its first official radioplay on his own Global DJ Broadcast show and was featured on W&W‘s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.
“Remember This” begins with a build, which heads straight for a pulsating first drop. Soon the heavy section dissipates, and we begin to hear the melodic mastery that Markus Schulz is known for. I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest trance-head, but I can definitely say that this is one of the finest melodies I’ve heard all year. The Eschwege, Germany native then brings the track back into a drop, adding the melody to the same pulsating sound heard earlier. The second drop subsides into a quick break, which immediately builds towards the third and final drop. This last drop features a progressive trance sound to it, and is equally powerful on the low end as well.
This track has definitely gotten me interested in trance, especially the work of Markus Schulz. Plus, this reiterates the dedication that W&W has to releasing tracks they like. Even though their productions are trending towards house, they still show their love for their roots in trance. “Remember This” drops on November 11, so enjoy the preview for now!
