Alean & Skyy vs. Trifo – Nuke [Ones To Watch Records]
I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again: Ones To Watch Records pumps out some of the biggest tunes I’ve heard all year. This track, “Nuke,” is definitely no exception. OTW, again, welcomes in two artists that I’ve never heard of prior to writing this post: Alean & Skyy and Trifo. Alean & Skyy represent the western United States, while Trifo hails from Melbourne, Australia. This collaboration was definitely aided by the wonderful thing we call the Internet. This track snuck under our radar due to its odd Thursday release date, but luckily, we found it!
While there is an artist from Melbourne on this tune, it’s far from a Melbourne bounce song. This song is big-room through and through, relying on a gigantic bass kick and complementary synths that are guaranteed to make you dance. To me, this is one of the more “put-together” big-room sounds that I’ve heard so far in 2013. While seem like a bass kick combined with almost haphazardly placed synths, “Nuke” definitely feels coagulated, and you can tell listening to it over a system as simple as your laptop speakers.
