Henry Fong & Mike Hawkins & Toby Green – Hot Steppa [October 28 – Spinnin’ Records]
Holland’s premier label, Spinnin’ Records, now welcomes the finest from Megaton Records to the imprint. While teased earlier this year, the latest mega-collaboration between Mike Hawkins, Henry Fong, and Toby Green, titled “Hot Steppa,” has found its official home in the Netherlands. While this is the first time that all three artists have combined on a single track, Hawkins has worked with both Fong and Green, and Fong and Green are behind the smash hit “Revival”. It’s safe to say that each producer is familiar with each other’s style, and this can only lead to a finely-tuned track that is bound for success.
The melody definitely has some sick reggae inspiration to it, with a powerful horn section over a traditional organ. This sound serves as the basis for the both the melody and the buildup sections of the track. A quick drum breakdown and a similar reggae influenced sample lead the track into a high-energy drop, which feels like a strong combo between “Revival” and “Bangover”. If you keep on listening, they even included the slightly-overused reggae airhorn in the track, going full circle with their reggae inspiration.
The release date for this banging tune will be October 28 via Spinnin’ Records. This track will definitely be a “Hot Steppa” in the libraries of many big-time DJs, so get ready to hear a lot of this one. For now, just crank up this preview!
