Markus Schulz to Release Two-Disc Compilation “Buenos Aires ’13”
While many fans of dance music praise the semi-monotonous sound of a big room bass kick on your typical Beatport Top 10 track, there’s one genre that always has friends and supporters everywhere in the world. Of course, I’m talking about the #TranceFamily, and the ever-present and beautiful genre of trance music. One of the more recognizable faces in the trance movement is German DJ/producer, Markus Schulz. In 2012, he was ranked at #13 in the DJ Mag Top 100 polling, and has reached as high as #4 on the Beatport Trance Top 100 chart with the track “The Spiritual Gateway,” which he produced for the Transmission festival in Prague, Czech Republic. As he prepares to embark on a mini tour of the USA, Markus has released the track listing for his upcoming mixed compilation, “Buenos Aires ’13”. He chose to name the compilation after the Argentine capital city because of his amazing experiences during his recent live shows in the city, including the rainsoaked UMF Buenos Aires, to a 15 hour set at Mandarine nightclub.
In total, the album has 38 of Markus’s favorite tracks, split onto 2 discs of 19 songs each. Of these 38 tracks, Markus only included 5 of his own creations, instead showcasing his favorite tracks from other artists. It is no surprise that Mr. Schulz will be putting 38 tracks on this compilation, as he has a knack for playing incredibly long DJ sets, including a 12 hour set at Tomorrowland this year. From just looking at the names of the artists on the tracklist, you can easily tell that this album is filled with trance anthems, and that suspicion is confirmed as soon as you turn on the first track, from Marscela. Check out a sampler track from the album below, it’s one of the 5 original tracks from Markus Schulz; this one is titled “Remember This”.
